Senator A.G. Crowe Authors Legislation Recognizing the New Orleans Saints
|
“A pot of black and gold for someone……thanks to the World Champion New Orleans Saints!”
To recognize the tremendous achievement of the New Orleans Saints as the new world champions, legislation will be introduced in the next session that will allow for the production of a new official specialty license plate in Louisiana. The design of the plate will include one of the more popular state flowers, the Fleur-de-Lis, the state seal and the phrase “Who Dat Nation”. Senator Crowe anticipates that the final design will have to go through the legislative process and is confident that a final design will be within the confines of any copyright laws. Crowe expects Saints fans will order thousands of plates from all over the state at a cost of approximately $60.00 (over 2 years) above the cost of a regular plate. “This is a great way for Saints fans to express their appreciation for the New Orleans Saints and what they mean to the city of New Orleans and the State of Louisiana.” And as we always say in Louisiana, there is lagniappe. Each plate ordered generates $50.00 which goes in to a special fund for a purpose or cause designated in the legislation. If 20,000 plates are sold, over $1,000,000 will be raised for a worthy cause. Senator Crowe will consult with the Saints organization and his fellow legislators to determine who will get the “pot of black and gold” every year thanks to the New Orleans Saints, owners Tom Benson, Rita Benson, Coach Sean Payton, General Manager Mickey Loomis and the best players in the world. |
